Welcome to Hawks Class 

Welcome to Year 4, Hawks Class!

My name is Miss Kallenbach, and I am lucky enough to be Hawks Class teacher. I am delighted to be working with such a fantastic team of Learning Support Assistants. Together we create a warm, caring and inclusive classroom where every child feels happy, valued and supported to be the very best they can be.

In Hawks Class, we build on the knowledge and skills children developed in Year 3, giving them plenty of opportunities to practise, revisit and apply their learning. We believe in practical, hands-on learning, helping children to explore new ideas and make meaningful connections.

Throughout the year, our learning includes:

• Autumn: How children’s lives have changed over time and the importance of rainforests.
• Spring: The Anglo-Saxons and where our food comes from.
• Summer: The Ancient Maya and rivers.

In Hawks Class, we provide a warm, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to be themselves and reach their potential. We value curiosity, creativity and independence, giving children opportunities to explore, ask questions and take ownership of their learning. We celebrate individual strengths and achievements, while encouraging children to support and learn from one another.

Children have access to targeted interventions, weekly opportunities to read with an adult, and support from a range of adults across school. We also make sure children's thoughts, opinions and worries are listened to, so they feel supported, valued and heard.

Children have opportunities to take part in a variety of clubs, class assemblies, whole-school events and themed weeks throughout the year. In Year 4, we are also lucky enough to enjoy a residential trip to Sayers Croft, giving children the chance to learn, have fun and build independence together.

As you can see, this year is going to be a busy and exciting year for all in Hawks Class!
