Science Week at Stepgates started with a 'BANG' and a 'FIZZ'! The children were 'blown away' when Mrs Brough, our Science Lead, carried out some mesmerising experiments.
The children of Stepgates Community School thoroughly enjoyed their visits from Surrey Fire Education Department, and our Reception children were lucky enough to climb aboard the fire truck and squirt the hoses.
The Salvation Army in Addlestone co-ordinates a Christmas Toy Appeal and last year they provided toys and gifts for over 500 children within Runnymede borough which were distributed to families in need. This year families are facing even more difficulties due to the rising cost of living; the huge increase in utility bills which is having a massive effect upon people’s financial situation and their ability to buy more than the basic requirements. The Salvation Army are expecting an increase in the number of families referred to them and asked if Stepgates Community School could support.
We are very proud of our new SEN Unit.
On Thursday 19th September we had a very successful whole school trip (Years 1-6) to Wellington Country Park, where the children had an opportunity to explore the woodlands, pond habitat, animal farm and enchanted forest amongst other exciting attractions.
A huge thank you to all parents/carers who joined us for an afternoon of amazing artwork and coming together as a community, for our Art Exhibition and Family Picnic/Afternoon Tea.
On Friday 14th June 2024 our ‘Young Carers’ group had a lovely day. The children participated in cooking some fantastic cakes for the afternoon party.
Our Year 6 children had a wonderful time on their residential trip to the Isle of Wight.
Stepgates are delighted to announce two fantastic achievements over recent weeks.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our amazing FOSS team (Friends of Stepgates School) who very kindly bought every pupil in Years R to 6 a plain white T-shirt. The children had a wonderful time designing and decorating their T-shirts for World Book Day on Thursday 7th March.
At Stepgates we love to make the festive season extra special for our children!
