Welcome to Grasshoppers!

Who we are

My name is Mrs Trowbridge, and I am the class teacher in Grasshoppers Class (Year 2). Our dedicated Learning Support Assistants also work closely with the children to support their learning and wellbeing every day.

How we teach

In Year 2, we build on the foundations from Year 1, gradually moving children towards more formal learning and beginning to prepare them for KS2. We continue to offer hands‑on, creative activities alongside structured lessons, fostering a love of learning and supporting children to build their confidence and independence. This balanced approach ensures they feel secure as they take the next steps in Key Stage One, while still enjoying experiences that make learning meaningful.

Our topics this year include ‘Nurturing Nurses’, ‘London: Past and Present?’, and ‘Oh, the Places You'll Go!’. These themes run throughout the curriculum, allowing children to explore ideas from different perspectives and make valuable connections in their learning. What is special about our provision?

Our team works closely with families and our Inclusion department to ensure every child is supported to feel confident, included, and able to thrive.

What additional support is available?

We offer additional support through targeted interventions, speech and language programmes, and nurture opportunities for children who benefit from extra guidance. 

How children are included in school life

All children are fully included in school life, taking part in assemblies, clubs, themed weeks, and whole‑school events that help them feel part of our wider community. We encourage every child to contribute, participate, and celebrate their achievements. 

We hope the children enjoy their learning and feel proud of all they achieve this year.
