Nursery
Sunbeams is the maintained nursery class at Stepgates Community School. Like all classes at Stepgates we have full use of all the school's facilities including the library, outdoor spaces and the hall for P.E. and special occasions.
We provide a setting where children are happy and learn through play, supported by experienced caring staff. We pride ourselves on our excellent relationships with parents. Your child's Key Person will feed back directly to you on how your child is enjoying school and share their progress with you.

SESSION TIMES & PLACES
Age Range: Children from 2.5 years, with limited places for FEET-funded children from 2 years
- 2.5-Year-Old Sessions (Available for working parents and self-funded: 15 hours per week)
Morning: 9:00am – 12:00pm OR Afternoon: 12:30pm – 3:30pm
- 15 Hours Funded Places (Universal Entitlement available for 3 and 4 Year-Olds)
Allocated on a 2.5-day model:- Option 1: Mon & Tue (9:00am – 3:00pm) + Wed morning (9:00am – 12:00pm)
- Option 2: Wed afternoon (12:30pm – 3:30pm) + Thu & Fri (9:00am – 3:00pm)
- 30 Hours Funded Places (Working Parents Entitlement available for 3 and 4 Year-Olds)
Monday – Friday 9:00am – 3:00pm
*Option to pick up at 3:30 pm (subject to a fee)
FUNDING INFORMATION
FEES
- £20 per session for any hours beyond funded entitlement or for children not yet eligible for funding
- 3:30pm pick up (30 minutes extra) for £3 per day
- Snack fee: £1 per week
- Lunch: £2.90 per day (for children who stay all day; paid via SCOPAY app)
- Fees are payable termly, agreed annually each September
- Payment: Preferred via bank transfer, or cash/cheque at the school office
- If parents lose entitlement for funded hours, additional sessions will be invoiced
As a Maintained School, we will not be participating in the new Government funded package for any children under the age of 2 1/2 years, unless eligible for FEET Funding.
