Owl's Class Trip to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, London

In the Autumn Term Year 5 have been studying Explorers.

Do you know who this famous explorer is?

Once we arrived in London we travelled by Thames Clipper to Greenwich. We saw lots of the famous London sights on our journey down the Thames to the museum.

Do you recognise any of these iconic landmarks?

When we arrived at the museum we put our coats and bags away in a special room and then went to the Explorers' Exhibition where we filled out our Explorers investigation sheet!

We also learnt about the different spices that were brought back by tudor explorers.

We had lunch and then went over to The Queen's House, originally the home of Charles I's queen, Henrietta Maria. The building has a beautiful spiral staircase...

In the Queen's House we had an activity to do in teams that involved us choosing two items from a box that we would take on an expedition in Tudor times.

After great deliberation within our teams we all settled on two items, however each group had different items and different reasons for choosing them!

After our activity we had to leave the museum to head back to school. We boarded the Thames Clipper back to Millennium Pier. Once we arrived we had a short walk to Waterloo station where we caught the train home after a long and exciting day of learning in London!!
